Starting March 7, the daily take-home pay of minimum wage earners in Region XI will increase following the approval of a new wage order by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said.
In a statement, DOLE said the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) affirmed Wage Order No. RB XI-23, which grants a P29 daily wage increase for workers in the region.
The adjustment raises the minimum daily pay for non-agriculture workers in the Davao Region from P481 to P510, while those in the agriculture sector will see their wages rise from P476 to P505.
The RTWPB-XI issued the wage order after reviewing socio-economic conditions and consulting with labor and employer groups.
Under the Labor Code, regional wage boards determine pay adjustments based on inflation, employment rates, and the cost of living.
The wage hike aims to help workers cope with rising expenses while ensuring business sustainability.
The increase applies to all private-sector minimum wage earners in Region XI, regardless of position, designation, or employment status.
However, household or domestic workers, persons employed in personal service, and employees of registered Barangay Micro Business Enterprises (BMBEs) hired after the BMBE’s registration are exempt under existing wage laws.
The last wage adjustment in the region took effect on March 6, 2024.
