Two individuals were arrested in two separate follow-up operations by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
The first suspect was identified as Dominic Macandog, 31, resident of Brgy. Commonwealth, Quezon City.
According to a police report from Batasan Police Station (PS6), the victim was walking when the suspect forcibly took his cellphone and fled to an unknown destination.
The victim immediately reported the incident and the police conducted a follow-up operation.
As the victim and the police reached IBP Road, Pook Pag-asa, Brgy. Batasan Hills, Quezon City, Macandog was seen walking on the same street and was recognized by the victim which led to his arrest.
Recovered from the suspect were one mobile phone; a sling bag; one .30 caliber revolver and four live ammunition.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation, operatives arrested Ernesto Mesa Mata, 25, resident of Brgy. Tatalon, Quezon City.
Mata was spotted by Barangay Public Safety Officers (BPSO) of Brgy. Tatalon who was patrolling the area causing a disturbance with an improvised handgun tucked in his waist.
BPSOs immediately asked assistance from PS 11 which led to the arrest of Mata.
Recovered from the suspect were an improvised handgun (pen gun) loaded with one piece 9 mm live ammunition.
As authorities run Mata through the Investigation Solution Automatic Verification (ISAV) system, it was revealed that he had a previous case of Theft in September 2023.
The suspect will be charged for violating R.A. 10591, also known as Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and B.P. 881 or Omnibus Election Code in relation to COMELEC Resolution No. 11067.
Mata will be charged for Alarms and Scandals, while Macandog will be charged for Robbery.
