Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte led the flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremonies for the 39th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution on Tuesday, Feb.25, at the EDSA People Power Monument.

National Historical Commission of the Philippines chairperson Regalado Jose Jr. and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief engineer Colonel Ricnon Carolasan also joined the rites.
The event was attended by martial law survivors, local officials, civil society organizations, and political activists.
Belmonte also served as the guest of honor of the program.
Organizers also held a “Lakbay Dasal, Diwa ng EDSA” march and the “Misa sa Huling Araw ng EDSA” at the EDSA Shrine.
Meanwhile, the Aquino Center and Museum in Tarlac City has reopened to the public for the 39th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.
The EDSA People Power Revolution anniversary used to be commemorated yearly as a holiday, but President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. did not include Feb. 25 to the list of holidays this year.
