A 42-year-old man believed to be behind the manufacturing of counterfeit money was shot to death in Tondo, Manila.
According to the Manila Police District (MPD), the victim, identified as Jerry, died while he was admitted at the Tondo Medical Center on Monday night, Feb. 24.
Based on the investigation, the victim went to Quezon Street corner Perla Street to buy food at around 3:52 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 23.
Based on a closed circuit television footage (CCTV), the victim was seen being confronted by three men.
The victim then ran and was chased by the three suspects.
After a short chase, one of the three men stopped, pointed his gun at the victim and shot him several times.
Police said the victim suffered 10 gunshot wounds in the different parts of his body.
The suspects immediately left the scene of the crime.
The police are still determining why the victim chose to buy food in the area since local authorities have confirmed that he was not a resident of the neighborhood.
Meanwhile, authorities disclosed that an informant had told them that the victim was allegedly involved in counterfeiting.
The MPD is still investigating the incident and is conducting a follow-up operation to locate and arrest the suspects.
