The Malabon City government is urging residents to actively participate in the implementation of the Department of Health’s 4S Strategy to prevent the spread of dengue and ensure a safer, healthier community.
Mayor Jeannie Sandoval emphasized the importance of collective action in combating dengue, especially as the rainy season increases the risk of mosquito-borne diseases.
"We need the full cooperation of every Malabueño in implementing the 4S Against Dengue to keep our families and neighborhoods safe," Sandoval said.
The 4S Strategy consists of four key actions that every household can take to prevent dengue:
Search & Destroy – Regularly clean surroundings and eliminate stagnant water to prevent mosquito breeding.
Self-Protection Measures – Use insect repellent, wear long sleeves, and ensure window screens are in place to avoid mosquito bites.
Seek Early Consultation – If experiencing symptoms like fever, rashes, or body pain, consult a doctor immediately to prevent severe dengue complications.
Support Fogging & Spraying – Participate in barangay-led fogging operations, especially in areas with high dengue cases.
The city government, in coordination with barangay officials and health workers, is intensifying its anti-dengue campaign by conducting house-to-house information drives, clean-up operations, and fogging activities in dengue-prone areas.
Residents are encouraged to do their part by regularly cleaning their homes and surroundings.
"Dengue prevention starts at home. Small actions like covering water containers, disposing of trash properly, and using mosquito nets can make a big difference," the city government said.
It called on Malabueños to spread awareness about dengue prevention by sharing information with their families and communities.
