The spirit of the EDSA People Power Revolution remains strong even after 39 years removed from the historic event, House Minority Leader 4Ps Party-list Rep. Marcelino “Nonoy” Libanan said.
“The spirit of EDSA lives on in our democratic institutions and in our daily lives,” Libanan declared in a statement Tuesday, Feb. 25.
“Since EDSA, and because of EDSA, we have been able to freely elect our national leaders—from the President down to local officials—while upholding the principles of democracy and good governance,” he said.
“In fact, in just a few weeks, we will be holding the May 12 mid-term elections, giving every Filipino the opportunity to freely choose our representatives in Congress and local government,” noted the veteran solon.
He also stressed that the core values upheld by EDSA—transparency, accountability, and respect for human rights—remain relevant today as the nation continues to safeguard its democracy.
Libanan is aiming for reelection in the upcoming May polls.
