Secretary Jonvic Remulla of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) announced that the student was rescued in Paranaque.
“I am very pleased and relieved that we can now advise, as confirmed in the press today by the Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, that our missing student is safely in the hands of the authorities,” Van der Linde said in a new message to BSM families after the student was rescued.
He added, “We are unable to share any further information and will continue to cooperate and support the family and authorities. You will understand that we have been constrained by the events and protocols around an event of this nature, in openly sharing ongoing information with our community. This has been a very difficult time for all of us and at the centre of everything has been the care for one of our own and for one another."
"We are incredibly grateful that this has been resolved and express our gratitude to the authorities for the tremendous efforts, to members of our community who have supported efforts behind the scenes and to our families who have shared messages of support,” he said.
He said, “Knowing that our school is a safe space, please rest assured that we will diligently plan for our return to school next week with the well-being of all of our community members at the forefront of all our endeavours.”
