Police say snatching incident involving minor not in Taguig

The Taguig Police said the snatching incident captured in a dashcam video did not happen in the city.

On Feb. 22, motorist Celger Capoquian posted a dashcam video of the incident on Facebook. The video showed the minor, who was sitting on a bridge, suddenly ran to a vehicle, snatched a cell phone and ran away.

“The Taguig City Police would like to clarify that the recent snatching incident along C5, captured on dashcam and aired by the media, happened in Pasig, not in Taguig,” the Taguig Police said in a statement. 

They said the minor is a resident of Makati and was turned over to  Makati’s Social Welfare and Development Office. 

“The stolen cellphone has been recovered. We assure the public that the Taguig Police, in coordination with Pasig Police, is taking action to address such incidents. We urge everyone to report crimes immediately so we can respond quickly and hold perpetrators accountable,” the police said.
