OFW drowns in Batangas beach resort

CALATAGAN, Batangas â€“ A 43-year-old Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) drowned while swimming in a beach resort in Barangay Bagong Silang, this town, on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 23.

Police identified the victim as Diosdado Catanay.

Investigation said the victim and friends were swimming in the beach resort when they were swept into deeper water.

Catanay drowned and his friends sought help from the duty lifeguard who rescued and took him to shore.

He was taken to the Calatagan Medicare Hospital where he was declared dead.
