The Land Transportation Office (LTO) issued on Monday,  Feb. 24, a Show Cause Order (SCO) against the registered owners of the passenger jeepney and a dump truck in a viral head-on collision in Antipolo City over the weekend.

LTO Chief, Assistant Secretary Vigor D. Mendoza II said the registered owners of the two vehicles were also ordered to bring along or expected to identify the drivers, especially of the passenger jeepney which was seen in the video overshooting the curve lane along Sumulong Highway.

“We want to know the circumstances that led to the incident, particularly on why the passenger jeepney overshot the lane that led to this accident,” said Mendoza.

At least nine people were reported to have been injured in the accident.

In the viral video, the passenger jeepney was seen hitting the truck that was travelling at the opposite side of the road after overshooting the curve lane.

The impact also resulted in the truck hitting what appears to be an e-trike which was travelling at the right portion of the truck.

In the SCO, the registered owners were asked to explain in notarized writing why they should not be held liable for employing reckless drivers.

The drivers, on the other hand, are facing two charges, reckless driving and improper person to operate a motor vehicle.

“Failure to appear and submit your written answer will compel this Office to resolve the matter based on the available evidence on record,” the SCO read.
