CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – The Police Regional Office-1 apprehended 27 gun ban violators from Jan. 12 to Feb. 22.

Ilocos police chief Police Brig. Gen. Lou F. Evangelista said 24 firearms were confiscated.
Seven were from Ilocos Norte, three from Ilocos Sur, four from La Union, and 13 from Pangasinan.
“This significant achievement underscores PRO-1's dedication to enforcing the rule of law and ensuring a peaceful and orderly election process in the region,” Evangelista said.
Evangelista commended the efforts of apprehending units.
“This accomplishment not only reflects our relentless commitment to upholding the law but also emphasizes the importance of public cooperation in maintaining peace and security. We will continue to strictly enforce the election-related gun ban and work closely with the public to ensure a safe and secure environment leading up to the elections,” he said.
He added that they remain steadfast in its mission to prevent the proliferation of illegal firearms and other threats that could disrupt the upcoming elections.
