QC Helpline 122 aids arrest of drug suspect involved in accident
Members of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) arrested an individual for possession of illegal drugs on Sunday, Feb. 23.
The police said the suspect was involved in an accident along Commonwealth Avenue.
According to the police report, Police Station 14 received a phone call to QC Helpline 122 to report an accident.
Police officers went to respond to the accident and found a male individual lying unconscious on the road, identified as Kenth Bunny Bacalso Amor, a resident of Brgy. Commonwealth, Quezon City.
As the police assisted the victim, a small plastic sachet containing a suspected illegal substance was discovered in his pocket which led to a further investigation on the individual.
Authorities were able to recover 11 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing 14 grams of shabu, with an estimated value of P95,200 and a motorcycle scooter.
The suspect was then brought to Quezon City General Hospital (QCGH) for medical treatment.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect had previous criminal records in violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 in August 2023 and violation of R.A. 11332 or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act in July 2021.
The suspect will be charged again of violating R.A. 9165 before Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
QCPD Acting Director Col. Melecio Buslig, Jr. urged the public to continue using QC Helpline 122 to report incidents in the city to the police.
“Ang mabilis na aksyon ng ating kapulisan ay nagresulta ng pagkaaresto ng suspek at pagkasamsam ng illegal na droga. Patuloy nating paiigtingin ang ating kampanya laban sa ilegal na droga at iba pang kriminalidad upang mapanatili ang kapayapaan at kaayusan sa ating lungsod (The quick response of our police has resulted in an arrest and confiscation of illegal drugs. Let us strengthen our fight against illegal drugs and other criminal activities to maintain peace and order in our city),” he said.
