Government anti-narcotics agents destroyed over P10.2 million worth of fully-grown marijuana plants during the operation in Kalilangan Caluang town in Sulu, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said.
PDEA Director Gil Cesario P. Castro noted that the approximately 11,950 fully-grown marijuana plants were destroyed by authorities in the estimated 1,950 square meters plantation site in Barangay Pitogo on Feb. 21.
“The plantation was allegedly cultivated by a suspect identified as alias Mahdi, who was not present during the operation,’’ Castro said.
Castro assured the public that the uprooted marijuana plants were promptly destroyed and burned on-site.
Alias Mahdi faces charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165, or “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.’’
