'Di tayo lugi': Lanao Sur gov hails, backs Sen. Bato's reelection bid
For his ties and contribution to Mindanao’s development, Lanao del Sur Governor Datu Mamintal “Bombit” Alonto Adiong Jr. said Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa deserves another term in the Senate.
Adiong endorsed the Partido ng Demokratikong Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) senatorial candidate during the 64th Araw ng Wao Kariyala Festival in Wao, Lanao del Sur.
“Hindi ho tayo malulugi kung iluluklok natin pabalik sa Senado. Hindi ba, ‘pag sinabi niyang, 'itaga niyo sa Bato,' totoo po ‘yon ("We won’t lose if we vote for him again back in the Senate. When he said, 'believe in Bato,' that's true),” Adiong said during the festival.
“Ipinaglalaban niya ‘yung karapatan ng taga-Mindanao at ‘yung mga inaapi sa ating mga kababayan sa buong Pilipinas, sa Lanao Del Sur (He will fight for the rights of the Mindanaoans and our fellowmen who are oppressed in the whole country, especially in Lanao del Sur),” the governor added.
Adiong also acknowledged Dela Rosa for relating himself to the people of Lanao del Sur, especially to the students and alumni of his alma mater—Mindanao State University (MSU).
Speaking at the festival, Dela Rosa commended Wao for its diversity and vowed to his fellow Mindanaoans that he will work better to ensure that peace will last in the region.
"Itong Wao, this is a melting pot, melting pot of all people, of all tribes... This is the perfect example of how we unite,” the senator said.
“Kahit meron tayong (Even if we are known for) diversity, diverse ang ating culture (our culture is diverse), diverse ang ating backgrounds (our backgrounds are diverse), pero naka-unite tayong lahat para maabot ang peace and order sa ating lugar (but we all unite to achieve peace and order in our communities),” Dela Rosa noted.
As chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs, Dela Rosa vowed to work hard for national policies aimed at improving the country’s public order, eradicate illegal drugs and strengthen the country’s national defense and security.
Aside from the committee on public order, Dela Rosa is also leading the Senate Special Committee on Marawi City Rehabilitation and Victim's Compensation.
Earlier, Vice President Sara Duterta also endorsed Dela Rosa’s reelection bid through a campaign ad.
