K-pop group Big Bang’s Taeyang wrapped up his “The Light Year” concert tour in Manila and surprised fans by performing a Filipino song.
At the concert held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on Feb. 22, Taeyang performed Filipino singer TJ Monterde’s hit song “Palagi.”
“The next one is a special gift for Manila. This is my first time singing a Filipino song. I really like this song,” Taeyang told the audience before he sang “Palagi.”
Taeyang sang “Palagi” for the second time after the audience chanted “isa pa (one more time).”
“One more time? If you say so,” he said.

“Palagi” was released by Monterde in 2023. “Palagi” placed in the top 10 in YouTube’s top trending music videos in the Philippines in 2024.
During the launch of The Official Philippines Chart under the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) recently, Monterde was awarded the Top Local Song of the Year for “Palagi.”
“Palagi” has garnered 180 million streams on Spotify to date and 22 million views on YouTube.

Last stop: Manila
Manila was the last stop for Taeyang’s “The Light Year” tour, which was launched in Seoul, South Korea on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 last year.
From there, Taeyang toured Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, Macau, and the Philippines.
In Manila, Taeyang opened the show with “Prayer,” followed by “I'll Be There,” “Vibe,” “1 AM,” “Stay with Me,” “Make Love” and “Inspiration.”
He also performed “Only Look at Me,” “Wedding Dress,” “Blue,” “If You,” “Loser,” “Where U At,” “I Need A Girl,” “A Fool of Tears,” “Bang Bang Bang,” “Fantastic Baby,” “We Like 2 Party,” “Shoong!,” “Ringa Linga,” and “Eyes, Nose, Lips,”
For the encore, he sang “”Superstar,” “Body,” and “Nightfall.”
After the show, Taeyang uploaded photos on Instagram and wrote, “Thank u Manila Love u palagi [always].”
