Saint Louis, Lucban Elementary top Panagbenga


BAGUIO CITY – The Saint Louis University Center for Culture and the Arts and El Tribu D. Lucban of the Lucban Elementary School topped the festival dance and drum and lyre competitions at the 29th Panagbenga Festival with the theme “Blossoms Beyond Boundaries” here on Saturday, Feb. 22.

First-runner up in the festival dance category was Bibyun Lubuagan of Lubuagan, Kalinga, the champion of the Bodong Festival in Kalinga. Third was Tawid a Balitok of Bacnotan, La Union.

Best in Music and Choreography was SLU-CCA and Best in Costume and Props was Tawid a Balitok.

SLU-CCA's winning performance was their interpretation of the Cordilleran chant “Bagbagto” that seeks to ensure a good harvest of potatoes.

Winners received P200,000, P100,000 and P70,000, respectively.

Second in the drum and lyre category was Mabini Elementary School and third was Tuba Elementary School.

Winners bagged P150,000, P100,000, and P70,000.

Meanwhile, the Bimaak Cultural Dance Group of Baguio City National School topped 22 other contingents in the “Rhythm of the Highland, A Showcase of Culture and Dance” contest of the Panagbenga Festival on Feb. 15.

Saeng Ya Kasay Cultural Ensemble was second and third was Iyaman Cultural Performance Group. 

They received P100,000, P70,000, and P50,000, respectively.
