Remulla seeks unified 911 system in Western Visayas


ILOILO CITY – Secretary Jonvic Remulla of the Department of the Interior and Local Government has proposed the creation of a unified 911 system for faster emergency response in Western Visayas region.

Remulla held a Feb. 21 command conference with key officials of DILG-attached agencies and  hosted by the Philippine National Police (PNP)-Region 6 headed by Police Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky.

DILG-6 Regional Director Juan Jovian Ingeniero said this should strengthen response mechanisms of DILG-attached agencies, including the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the PNP, with local government units (LGUs) in times of emergencies or disasters in the region comprised of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces as well as the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod..

Remulla met Jail Chief Supt. Simeon Doloji Jr. of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-6, Director Jerome Asuga of the National Police Commission-6, Fire Chief Supt. Felixberto Abrencia of BFP-6, and Wanky in a closed-door meeting.

During Remulla’s first visit to Western Visayas as DILG Secretary, he met Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. and town mayors.
