The endorsement was personally delivered by PFP National President Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. who raised the hand of Yogi Ruiz during the Bag-o na Pud! A Call-for-Change Movement rally on N. Bacalso Ave. here on Friday night, Feb. 21.

The endorsement served as the highlight of the event attended by thousands of vendors, students, workers, women, senior citizens, and entrepreneurs.

In his speech, Tamayo said Ruiz’s experience in law enforcement and public service makes him the most capable leader to bring more progress here.

“Cebu City deserves a leader who does not make promises but delivers results. Yogi Ruiz has the discipline, the experience, and the vision to transform this city into a model of progress and good governance,” Tamayo said.

Ruiz, a former director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas, is running under Partido Cebuano. He is up against incumbent Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia, former Mayor Michael Rama, and Councilor Nestor Archival.

Ruiz welcomed PFP’s endorsement. He said that it solidified his position as the leading challenger against the city’s entrenched political forces.

“Cebu City is at a crossroads. For years, traditional politics have dominated the landscape, and yet, many of our most pressing problems remain unresolved. Today, we take a stand and say ‘Bag-o na pud!’ It’s time for a leadership that truly listens and delivers,” Ruiz said in his speech.

Ruiz said the Bag-o na Pud! movement aims not just to change faces in leadership but to redefine the very approach to governance.

He said the movement promotes inclusivity, transparency, and responsiveness, values that he said he championed throughout his career in law enforcement and public service.
