Caloocan LGU provides free chest X-ray for residents

The Caloocan City government offered free chest X-ray services to residents in a bid to detect early signs and symptoms of tuberculosis (TB).

The activity is part of the 63rd Cityhood Anniversary celebration of Caloocan, the city government announced on Saturday, Feb. 22.

Dubbed “TB Caravan,” the initiative seeks to identify TB cases early, prevent its spread, and provide residents with access to the city’s early treatment programs.

According to the city’s Public Information Office, the free chest X-ray is available to residents aged 15 and above.

Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan expressed his gratitude to those who availed themselves of the free service, emphasizing its role in ensuring public health and safety, particularly of the vulnerable sectors.

“Batid ko po na hindi biro ang sakit at hirap na dulot ng TB, kung kaya’t nagpapasalamat po ako sa lahat ng ating mga kababayan na nagpa-check up dahil malaking tulong po ito sa layunin ng ating administrasyon na ilayo ang mga nakakahawang sakit sa mga komunidad, lalong-lalo na po sa kapakanan ng mga bata, senior citizen, at iba pang mga vulnerable sa ganitong karamdaman (I understand that the pain and hardship caused by TB are no small matter. That’s why I am grateful to all our fellow citizens who have undergone checkups, as this is a great help in our administration’s goal of keeping infectious diseases away from our communities—especially for the welfare of children, senior citizens, and other vulnerable individuals),” he said.

Malapitan also assured residents that the initiative is part of the city government’s ongoing efforts to promote public health and well-being.

He reiterated his commitment to providing accessible healthcare services for all.

“Mula pa noong nagsimula ako bilang Punong Lungsod, naging prayoridad na natin ang kalusugan ng mga mamamayan kaya naman siniguro rin natin na bahagi ng ating mga pagdiriwang para sa 63rd Anniversary ang tuloy-tuloy at libreng na serbisyo medikal (Since I began serving as City Mayor, the health of our citizens has always been a priority. That’s why we have ensured that as part of our celebration for the 63rd Anniversary, we continue to provide free and accessible medical services),” Malapitan said.

He further assured the public that the city’s healthcare programs will remain a top priority.
