11 hurt in three-vehicle collision in Antipolo

Eleven people were injured after a jeepney crashed into a truck and a tricycle when its driver allegedly fell asleep in Antipolo City, Rizal, on Saturday morning, Feb. 22.

Based on the initial investigation, the jeepney driver dozed off while driving uphill along Sumulong Highway, causing the vehicle to cross into the opposite lane.

It then hit the oncoming truck and the tricycle.

Antipolo Mayor Jun Ynares said that the city and barangay rescue teams immediately assisted the victims and transported them to the hospital.

Ynares advised motorists to take alternate routes due to heavy traffic caused by the incident.

As of 9 a.m., clearing operations were ongoing to remove the vehicles from the area.

Authorities are also investigating the incident.
