After a four-set loss to the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws on the opening day last weekend, the Golden Tigresses seek to recover and barge into the winning column as they challenge the determined University of the East Lady Warriors at 11 a.m.
Meanwhile at 5 p.m., Angel Canino and the Lady Spikers go up against emerging star Shaina Nitura and the Adamson Lady Falcons.
Despite missing some of their key contributors in Jonna Perdido and Xyza Gula who both suffered injuries prior to the season, the España-based squad wants to continue building its chemistry since most of its players are rookies.
But the Tigresses still have Angge Poyos, the Season 86 Rookie of the Year, Regina Jurado and Margaret Altea to take the lead alongside libero Detdet Pepito for the Kungfu Reyes-mentored crew.
Khy Cepada, who had a 24-point performance in their heartbreaking five-set defeat to the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, is expected to deliver anew for the Lady Warriors.
Meanwhile, La Salle is surely eager to score a victory after head coach Ramil de Jesus absorbed his first-ever season-opening defeat in his 28-year career in the UAAP – a devastating three-set loss to the National University Lady Bulldogs last Sunday.
De Jesus, however, knew there are lessons after such defeats.
“‘Yon ang importante, may natutunan ka sa pagkatalo mo, and ready kang i-correct ‘yon sa mga susunod na laban,” said de Jesus.
