Rigo made the appeal during the district-wide election for the City Poblacion B Senior Citizens organized in collaboration with the Davao City Social Welfare and Development Office at Ramon Magsaysay Park on Feb. 19.

He interacted with over 40 senior citizens and provided updates from his father’s office, including ongoing initiatives. He highlighted the valuable role of senior citizens in the community for their wisdom and experience.

Gina Molon, senior welfare officer III of the CSWDO, said the results were based on barangay-level elections that align with their mandate to organize different sectors.

“Senior citizens are our key partners in implementing programs at the grassroots level. The elected representative from this process would move forward to the city-level selection,” Molon said.

Molon said that the CSWDO does not view senior citizens as mere beneficiaries but as active contributors to society. She said senior citizens continue to be productive despite their age.

The CSWDO is committed to strengthening senior citizens’ organization and providing them with a supportive community that recognizes their contributions as they are crucial in sharing information about government programs and services within their communities, Molon said.
