The foreign official will be in the country on Feb. 23 to 24, Palace said.

Marcos and Whipps will hold a bilateral meeting where they are expected to exchange views  on expanding existing bilateral cooperation on various areas and explore new ties.

"At their bilateral meeting, President Marcos is expected to exchange views with his Palau counterpart on expanding existing bilateral cooperation on fisheries, trade, investment, connectivity and people-to-people ties as well as exploring new avenues of collaboration such as on health and labor," the Palace said in a statement on Friday, Feb. 21.

"The two leaders will also discuss South-South cooperation, regional concerns and common advocacies at the multilateral arena," it added.

According to Malacañang, almost 3,000 Filipinos living and working in Palau make up nearly 17 percent of Palau’s population.

In 2027, the two neighboring countries will celebrate the milestone 30th anniversary of the establishment of Philippines-Palau diplomatic relations.
