Reigning champion National University made it known its intention of repeating as the volleyball queens in UAAP Season 87, staying perfect after two games in straight-set fashion against Ateneo and De La Salle.

Lady Bulldogs head coach Sherwin Meneses knew the road to glory is one long mission, and the well-being of each player is surely coming as a priority to withstand the demands of a competitive field.
“As of now, medyo okay. Pero siyempre mahaba ‘tong UAAP, double round, I think in first round ma-maintain namin ‘yong fitness ng bawat isa,” said Meneses after NU’s win over the undermanned Ateneo Lady Eagles Wednesday, Feb. 19.
“Hopefully, less injury kasi napaka-importante ng mga games, so I think 100 percent sila ngayong conference,” he added.
With veterans Alyssa Solomon and Bella Belen delivering on the offensive end and libero Lams Lamina calling their plays, the Lady Bulldogs looked great in their current run.
“Siguro po ‘yong pagiging conscious sa galaw, number one talaga ‘yon… kasi ‘yong time na na-injury ako, parang, sobrang wala akong pakialam sa galaw ko,” said Solomon who suffered a minor injury after the Bulldogs’ title victory last year.
“Then after injury do’n ko na-realize na sobrang importante na maging conscious ka galaw mo,” she added. “Para maiwasan ‘yon.”
"Since mahaba pa 'tong season, we try to stay healthy and discipline pa sa mga igagalaw namin sa mga trainings para 'di po mangyari sa game," Lamina added.
