The two-kilometer-long, six-meter-wide dike is a flood control project funded by Bulacan 4th District Representative Linabelle Ruth Villarica and led by DPWH District Engineer George Santos.

District Engineer George DC Santos of the DPWH Bulacan 2nd District Engineering Office led the construction of the Dike.

Mayor Leonardo "Ding" Valeda requested the project to help prevent flooding in the villages of Lawa, Paco, and Tawiran, which are often affected by high tides and heavy rains.

"Kapag natapos na ang Megadike maaari nang dumaan sabay ang mga light vehicles na magkasalubong (south-north). Inaasahan na maging atraksyon ito sa bayan ng Obando, bukod sa pagiging solusyon nito sa pagbaha (When the Megadike will be completed, the light vehicles could travel at the same time (south-north). It is expected to be an attraction to the town of Obando aside to its flooding solution)," Valeda said.

Once completed, the dike will allow two-way travel for light vehicles and is expected to become a tourist attraction in Obando, aside from solving flooding problems.

Residents expressed their gratitude to Mayor Valeda and Rep. Villarica for this significant development.

During a recent site visit, Valeda was joined by Barangay Paco Captain Obet Marquez, as well as Municipal Flood Control Team members Danilo Juan and Ramon Agustin.

They compared the Pala-Pala Tawiran Mega Dike to the Dampalit Mega Dike in Malabon City, noting that the Dampalit Dike has been an effective flood protection measure and has also become a popular local attraction.
