Two persons were arrested after they yielded P8,840,000 worth of shabu hidden in a freeze-dried durian pack during a police buy-bust operation in Barangay San Antonio, Makati City on Wednesday, Feb. 19.
The Southern Police District (SPD) identified the suspects as "Wewel" and "Madam," both 28 years old.
Based on the police report, the undercover operative was able to buy from the suspects P1 million worth of shabu placed inside a vacuum-sealed foil pack labeled as freeze-dried durian with Chinese characters.
Upon the arrest of the suspects, the police also recovered the rest of the shabu and other drug paraphernalia.
"Both suspects will face charges for violating Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Investigators are now finalizing case documents for submission to the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office." the SPD said.
SPD district director Brig. Gen. Manuel Abrugena commended the Makat City Police for the successful operation. He underscored the importance of sustained efforts against illegal drug activities.
He also urged the public to remain vigilant and support law enforcement efforts by reporting any suspicious activities, adding that strengthening civilian cooperation is key to creating a safer and drug-free community.
