CEBU CITY – Illegal drugs worth more than P7 million were seized in buy-bust operations in the cities of Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu.

The Regional Drug Enforcement Group recovered 825 grams of suspected shabu worth P5.6 million from Arman Taneca, 43, in Barangay Mantuyong, Mandaue past midnight on Thursday, Feb. 20.
Police said Taneca, a family driver, was capable of selling one kilo of shabu per week.
Investigation said the suspect, a resident of Barangay Tisa, Cebu City, received his supply of illegal drugs through a contact in Abuyog, Leyte.
In Lapu-Lapu, a tricyle driver was arrested with 305 grams of suspected shabu worth more than P2 million in a buy-bust operation on Wednesday, Feb. 19.
Police said the suspect, Apupa, is a native of Lanao del Norte who just arrived in Lapu-Lapu last month.
Police Lt. Col. Christian Torres, information officer of the Lapu-Lapu City Police, said that although the suspect is a newly identified drug player, he was capable of selling huge amounts of shabu.
“He is a newbie but he was able to establish connections right away that’s why his name floated in our intelligence monitoring. It is possible that his sources or contacts are from Mindanao,” Torres said.
The suspect denied involvement in the illegal drugs trade.
He said he earned a living by driving a tricycle and was surprised when he became the subject of the operation.
