BACOLOD CITY - A 34-year-old New People’s Army rebel wanted for murder was arrested by the police in Barangay Bandila, Toboso, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, Feb. 19.

Lt. Dan Carlo Samoza, civil military officer of the Army 79th Infantry Battalion, identified the suspect as Wil, 34, a resident of Calatrava, Negros Occidental.
Samoza said that the suspect served as a combatant and courier who provided supplies to his comrades and connects with various areas under the dismantled Northern Negros Front (NNF).
The suspect committed the crime while he was an active fighter.
The Army could offer him amnesty, Samoza said. The amnesty may only be granted to former NPA rebels with offenses in pursuit of political beliefs.
