Muntinlupa welcomes Korean volunteers

The Muntinlupa City government welcomed 15 Korean volunteers who will be working at Child Development Centers in the city.

The volunteers under the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) were introduced during the flag-raising ceremony held at the Muntinlupa City hall quadrangle.

According to the city government, the initiative paved the way for Muntinlupa to be recognized as the first volunteerism local learning hub in the country.

The volunteers will teach new methodologies and share best practices to ensure that each learner will receive adequate attention and support that will enhance services at the Early Childhood Education and Development. They met with Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon.

KOICA revealed that the 15 Team Project Volunteers experienced immersion in the country by riding jeepneys and learning local culture.

They visited UNICEF Philippines and the University of the Philippines’ Department of Family Life and Child Development to learn about early childhood education. They also met KOICA’s new country director, Jung Youngsun, at the KOICA Philippines Office.

The volunteers, according to KOICA, will be working with Muntinlupa’s Early Childhood Education Division (ECED) and Child Development Centers focusing on advancing early childhood care and development in collaboration with UNICEF and UP.
