The BNB 101 has issued a resolution asking Iloilo Rep. Janette Loreto-Garin to push for the expansion of MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power) in southern Iloilo towns Oton, Tigbauan, Guimbal, Miag-ao, Igbaras, and Tubungan currently serviced by the Iloilo Electric Cooperative (ILECO I).
“We, the consumers of Iloilo first district, would also like to avail and access better services and lower rates being offered by MORE Power to their consumers,” said the BNB 101.
MORE Power of the Razon Group has been operating in Iloilo City since 2020 when it took over the franchise of the Panay Electric Co. (PECO).
Republic Act No. 11918 was passed in 2022 that allowed the expansion of the MORE Power franchise into 15 towns in the second and fourth districts of Iloilo.
Last year, the Supreme Court upheld the law and junked the petition of the three ILECOs questioning the legality of MORE Power’s franchise.
BNB 101 wants southern Iloilo residents to have cheaper electricity rates and better access to services.
