BACOLOD CITY – A 24-year-old fisherman drowned in the sea of Barangay 10 here on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

Coast Guard Ensign Pauline Villegas, public information officer of Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Northern Negros Occidental, identified the victim as Troy Beloya.
Villegas said the victim and his two companions went out to sea to retrieve a fishing net when their boat capsized due to strong winds and huge waves.
His companions managed to swim to the shore and were rescued but Beloya went missing.
A search and rescue operation was conducted but failed to locate the victim.
Beloya’s friend found his remains at around 11 p.m. while fishing a few meters away from the shoreline of Bredco port here.
The victim’s family has claimed his remains.
