Nex had a long rap sheet with authorities.

He was No. 1 in the regional priority target list in Eastern Visayas, an alleged member of the Magbutay Criminal Gang a high-value individual in the illegal drugs trade, and a former inmate.

Police arrived at his house to implement a search warrant for violation of Section 11 (possession), Article 2, of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 issued by the Calbayog Regional Trial Court.

However, Nex, instead of cooperating, grabbed a shotgun, prompting lawmen to force their way in and ask him to drop his weapon.

Nex fired his shotgun, prompting police to retaliate. The suspect was wounded and taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.

His live-in partner, Lalay, 27, a street-level individual in the illegal drugs trade, was arrested. Recovered from her was a transparent plastic sachet of suspected shabu.

Found in Nex’s possession were two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing shabu and cash.

Recovered drugs had a total estimated weight of 65 grams and valued at P442,000. Various guns and bullets were also recovered.

Lalay is in police custody.
