Netflix hit series “Squid Game” season 2 actress Lee Joo-shil passed away on Feb. 2 after battling stomach cancer. She was 80.
Her agency, 1230 Culture, confirmed her death.
Korean media reported that she suffered cardiac arrest at her daughter’s house in Uijeongbu, Seoul at about 10:20 a.m. KST on Feb. 2.

She was taken to the Catholic University of Korea Uijeongbu St. Mary's Hospital where she was given CPR but passed away.
Lee Joo-shil was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in 1993 and recovered after 10 years.
The agency said three months ago, her health deteriorated and was examined at a hospital and was diagnosed with stomach cancer.
In “Squid Game” season 2, which premiered last Dec. 26, Lee Joo-shil played the role of the mother of police officer Hwang Jun-ho, played by actor Wi Ha-joon.
She appeared in dramas and films such as “Train to Busan,” “The Uncanny Counter” and “Beauty and Mr. Romantic.”
Her wake will be at Severance Hospital funeral hall in Sinchon, Seoul and her funeral will be held on Feb. 5.
