New Bluesky-based TikTok and Instagram clones

If you haven't heard, TikTok is developed by a China-based company, and Meta has announced a reduction in moderation on Instagram's platforms. Consider exploring new alternatives that may suit your preferences. These Bluesky apps offer exciting new features, providing options similar to TikTok and Instagram. Here are three iOS apps that are currently in the works:

Bluescreen: This app looks just like TikTok or Instagram. It uses your Bluesky account and lets you choose where to get your videos from. By default, it uses the official Bluesky Video feed, but you can also choose Discover or any of your Pinned or Saved Feeds. You can post videos from your library or videos you take right in the app.

Skylight Social: This app is all about videos. You can upload videos from your iPhone, but it doesn’t have an interface to shoot or record videos for uploading. Unlike Bluescreen, it doesn’t let you choose different Feeds to get your videos from. One thing I don’t like is that there’s no way to mute the videos.

Flashes for BlueSky: This app is like an old-school Instagram clone, without those annoying Reels. You can choose which Feed to get your photos from, which makes it super flexible. You can also post photos from the app.

These apps are still in the works, so you’ll have to wait until they’re on the App Store (Bluescreen already is) or join the Testlight program to try them out.
