“We have not monitored such an incident here in the region,” said DepEd-6 Information Officer Hernani Escullar Jr. after the DepEd Central Office said they are investigating private schools for ghost students that would enable them to monetize incentives from DepEd.
“We are happy that all of our private schools are adhering to the guidelines set by DepEd and other agencies,” Escullar said.
Escullar said that the DepEd-6 Quality Assurance Division is regularly checking on private schools across the region.
DepEd-6 said there are 968 private schools in Western Visayas.
DepEd-6 does not have the data yet on the
number of SHS students and private schools that have availed themselves of the voucher program.
