Camille Villar explains what her 'bagong boses' slogan is all about

Villar came from a well-known family in Philippine politics, and there's nothing wrong with that. But she has branded herself as a new voice—one that is different from traditional politicians.

"Ako (Me), belonging to the millennial generation, iba na yung mundong kinalakihan ko. Marami ng advancements and technologies. Marami ng (the world that I have lived in is already different. There are many) advancements and changes around the world that we feel we have to input in our legislation and our programs," she said following a press conference held by the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial slate in Pasay City on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

She cited in particular her projects wherein she provided students and teachers alike with tablets to help them become more competitive. That's only one of her insights in the education sector, she said.

Villar acknowledged that Filipinos have dealt with perennial problems, including unemployment and low minimum wage. Maybe, it's time to try new solutions to these old challenges.

"There are lots of innovations na dapat ipasok natin (that we must try out)," she said.

"So 'yun yung bagong pananaw, bagong aksyon, at bagong solusyon na ina-advocate ko kasi (So that's my view—that there should be a new action, new solution and I am advocating for these because) I belong to younger generations... Baka ngayon meron na tayong bagong solusyon (Maybe now we should have new solutions)... That's what I want to bring," she added.
