The province of Palawan has sustained damage worth more than P100 million from the recent heavy rains and flooding caused by the shear line.

The latest Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis report of the provincial government said that agriculture, particularly rice, sustained the highest damage at P94 million, followed by high-value crops with P9 million, corn, P4 million, and livestock, P736,000.
More than 3,000 families were affected and sought shelter in evacuation centers in Aborlan, Narra, Sofronio Española, Brooke’s Point, and Quezon.
Assessment of damage and needs of evacuees continue.
State of calamity
Brooke’s Point declared a state of calamity on Monday, Feb. 17.
The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said this will enable the municipal government to use the 2025 Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund-Quick Response Fund to provide the needs of evacuees.
The MDRRMO said 7,500 families were affected and damage to infrastructure and agriculture was placed at P41.7 million and P24.1 million respectively.
Brooke’s Point is the third town in Palawan to declare a state of calamity after Narra and Aborlan.
Red Cross assistance
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC)-Palawan has distributed assistance to families affected by the calamity in Puerto Princesa City and other municipalities in the province.
The agency has distributed food packs good for three days and jerry cans to evacuees in Barangay Bancao-Bancao Puerto Princesa City.
The PRC has also given 1,719 hot meals to other evacuation centers in the province.
Other forms of assistance have also been provided.
The PRC which also rescued 60 individuals from the flood thanked people and groups who helped them provide assistance.
