The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Rizal Province has intensified its "Operation Baklas" or the removal of campaign materials in non-designated areas.
Comelec-Rizal’s Provincial Election Supervisor (PES) Atty. Arnulfo Pioquinto told the Manila Bulletin that campaign posters, tarpaulins, and signages that are not allowed by law are being dismantled and removed since the campaign period began on Feb. 11.

Pioquinto said illegal campaign materials were found placed in footbridges, walls in public places, and the perimeter walls in public parks.
Some of the seized materials were the posters of senatorial candidates, party-list representatives, and local candidates.
Pioquinto said the candidates and their supporters should should be made aware that unlawful campaign materials are individual posters, billboards, and tarpaulins that exceed 2 feet by 3 feet; collage-like posters exceeding 2 feet by 3 feet; and posters with single letters of names, when assembled to form a size exceeding 2 feet by 3 feet.
The posting of election paraphernalia, regardless of size, in public places, including electric posts and trees along public roads is also prohibited.

Pioquinto said the city and municipal election officers in the 14 localities have pledged to continue their respective “Operation Baklas” in their areas of jurisdiction with the ongoing campaign for national candidates and that of local candidates scheduled to start on March 28.
