What the Philippines needs are progress and solutions to its problems, and not threats or senseless tirades, President Marcos said as he once again endorsed the administration-backed senate slate in a proclamation rally in Pasay City.

Without naming names, Marcos said what sets his slate apart from other candidates are their demeanor when speaking in public.

"Wala po kayong maririnig na masasamang salita. Wala po kayong maririnig na pananakot. Wala po kayong maririnig na pagmumura (You won't hear them utter profanity. You won't hear threats. You won't hear them swear)," Marcos said in his speech at the first rally of the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas in Metro Manila on Tuesday night, Feb. 18.

The President further vouched for his senatorial bets, saying they are not the kinds who would engage in fights or make threats.

Ang kailangan po natin ay mag unlad, hindi po nananakot at nagsisisigaw (Fellowmen, the direction of the Alyansa is very clear in their speeches and aspiration for the country. It is progress, not fighting or oppression. What we need is progress, not threats or shouting)," Marcos said.

"At ang kailangan po natin ay solusyon, hindi po ang mga maiinit at maaanghang na salita na wala namang kinalaman at wala namang kabuluhan (And what we need is solution, not heated rhetoric that are senseless)," Marcos stressed.

Further in his speech, the President said the Alyansa candidates are one with his administration in pushing for the interest of Filipinos and in protecting the country's sovereignty and sovereign rights through diplomacy and dignity.

In fighting crimes and illegal drugs, Marcos said there is no need for a "bloody solution."

"Wala kaming paniniwala na ang solusyon ay kailangang pumatay ng libu-libong Pilipino. May tamang paraan para tiyakin ang kapayapaan at kaayusan (We have no belief that the solution is to kill thousands of Filipinos. There is a right way to ensure peace and order)," he said.

He has once again took a swipe at the prevalence of crimes related to the operations of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO). He said it will not be among the considerations of his candidates' solution to unemployment.

"Sa ekonomiya naman at sa trabaho, hindi natin kailangan umasa sa ilegal na mga industriya tulad ng POGO na naging pugad ng krimen at karahasan. Ang solusyon po ay tunay na trabaho, disenteng sweldo at suporta sa maliliit at sa mga nangangailangan (In economy and jobs, we do not need to rely on industries like POGO which became a center of crime and violence. The solutions are real jobs, descent pays, and support for small businesses and those in need)," Marcos said.

The Alyansa's rally at the Cuneta Astrodome was the first in the National Capital Region (NCR), one of the country’s most crucial electoral battlegrounds. It follows a series of campaign launches in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; Iloilo City; and Carmen, Davao del Norte.
