A total of 9,507 senior citizens were given anti-pneumonia vaccines as part of the Las Piñas City government's continuing project to bring health services closer to the people.
Dr. Julie Gonzalez, head of the City Health Office, said the city government, led by Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar and Vice Mayor April Aguilar, launched the health and wellness caravan in June 2024. At least 7,664 senior citizens from the city’s 20 barangays have been vaccinated against pneumonia.
Gonzalez said since there is a need to continue the health and wellness caravan to bring essential health services closer to the community, and help residents receive early diagnoses and appropriate medical interventions.
She said Vice Mayor Aguilar personally oversees that all residents will receive medical attention.
The CHO chief said aside from the pneumonia vaccine for senior citizens, the caravan also gives free services for cholesterol and sugar test; blood typing, ECG (electrocardiogram), chest X-Ray, tooth extraction and prophylaxis, medical consultation and medicines to all residents.
Gonzalez said that aside from the medical services, nutrition counseling, mobile birth registration, and the Green Card help desk are also being offered.
Aguilar's push for the medical caravan underscores the city’s dedication in providing accessible and quality healthcare to its residents.
