Nearly 2,000 wanted persons arrested in Metro Manila in first 46 days of 2025—NCRPO
Operatives of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) arrested a total of 1,996 wanted persons since January 1 this year amid the continuous efforts to account for all fugitives hiding in Metro Manila.
NCRPO director Brig. Gen. Anthony A. Aberin said most of those arrested from January 1 to February 15 were collared in the operations by the Southern Police District with 490, followed by Quezon City Police District with 386, and Northern Police District with 380.
The Manila Police District recorded 373 arrested wanted persons while the Eastern Police District has 367.
The arrests were made through intensified manhunt operations and relentless cyber patrolling by its dedicated tracker teams,” said Aberin.
“NCRPO will relentlessly pursue wanted persons in compliance with the orders of the Honorable Courts as part of our crime prevention and solution strategy,” said Aberin.
“With the help of the community, we will ensure that criminals cannot loiter freely and those who evade the law will be brought to justice the soonest possible time,” he added.
Meanwhile, Aberin said his men arrested 285 people for violating the election gun ban since it was implemented on Jan. 12.
He said a total of 293 firearms were also confiscated at checkpoints throughout Metro Manila.
Despite the heightened activity during the election season, Aberin said the NCRPO has reported no election-related incidents during this period, emphasizing the effectiveness of its preventive and security measures.
But he urged the public to remain vigilant and report any violations.
