Survey results show Pinoys want impeached VP Sara to face Senate trial--solons

Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Jil Bongalon, who is also one of the 11 House prosecutors in Duterte's impeachment case, said the outcome of the Tangere survey was "a clear indication" of the Filipnos' sentiment.

He said that as lawmakers, "It is our duty to heed this call and ensure that the impeachment process moves forward."

A Tangere survey conducted from Feb. 10 to 12, 2025 showed that 73 percent of Filipinos believe that Duterte should face a Senate impeachment trial for supposedly contracting an assassin to kill President Marcos, First Lady Liza Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez if she gets slain.

With an "overwhelming support" both coming from both the public and the House of Representatives, Bongalon said, "It is imperative that the Senate constitutes itself as an impeachment court to address these serious allegations."

1-Rider Party-list Rep. Rodge Gutierrez agreed with this in a press conference Monday. He said the survey was "a true reflection" of the people's view. 

Meanwhile, Lanao del Sur 1st district Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong found the survey results as a "validation" of the House of Representatives' stand.

"The issues are very clear, the questions are clear," Gutierrez said.

"Ngayon po​ (Now) we have the opportunity and ​[the] impeachment court is the proper venue.
Seventy three percent of the Filipino​s agree that this is the venue. Dapat na po siyang
​tumayo dito ​(She should face the trial) and to answer these allegations and to finally put to rest all of these​," he added.
