Octogenarian, son gunned down in Escalante City

BACOLOD CITY â€“ An 81-year-old woman and her son were fatally shot in Sitio Lower Lauyan, Barangay Dian-ay, Escalante City, Negros Occidental on Saturday, Feb. 15.

Police Lt. Suzennie Ann Legada, administrative officer of the Escalante City Police Station, identified the victims as Estelita and her 58-year-old son Virgilio.

Legada said the victims were on their way home from a drinking session when they were shot in the dark area of a new sugarcane plantation.

Estelita sustained bullet wounds in the stomach and her son son was wounded in the body. They were taken to a hospital where they were declared dead.

Recovered from the crime scene were fired bullets to be subjected to ballistics examination.

Legada said that investigation is ongoing despite the absence of witnesses.
