NCRPO: 1,867 arrested, P124-M worth of illegal drugs seized since Jan. 1 in Metro Manila
A total of 1,867 suspected drug users and pushers were arrested in the first 46 days of 2025 as the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) further stepped up what the Marcos administration described as bloodless drug war in Metro Manila.
NCRPO director Brig. Gen. Anthony A. Aberin said around P124 million worth of illegal drugs were also confiscated in the same period, almost all of them were shabu and marijuana.
"Our aggressive, relentless and procedure-based campaign against illegal drugs will remain a primordial strategy in delivering a peaceful, safe and secure Metro Manila,” said Aberin.
Those confiscated, he said, are a total of 15,264.34 grams of shabu valued at ₱103.79 million; 146,770.10 grams of marijuana leaves valued at ₱17.61 million; 5.83 grams of cocaine, 271.74 grams of kush, and 73 tablets of ecstasy.
Aberin said the arrested suspects are now in the custody of their respective arresting units and will face charges under Republic Act No. 9165, or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The Marcos administration, it was recalled, shifted to a less bloody drug war from the aggressive anti-illegal drugs campaign in the last administration that left more than 6,000 suspected drug personalities dead.
The same drug war also killed thousands more from the hands of vigilante groups, and a number of civilians, including children, who were caught in a crossfire
“I encourage all units in NCRPO to level up the momentum in our campaign but always remember that all police operations should be done in adherence with the Police Operational Procedures,” said Aberin.
