Their mother was arrested during a rescue operation on Thursday, Feb. 13.
Police Lt. Col. Christian Torres, information officer of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, said the alleged online sexual exploitation was monitored since July 2023.
Torres said the victims were made to expose their private parts for P2,000. The suspect’s clients were mostly foreigners.
After securing enough evidence, an undercover agent transacted with the mother, Torres said.
During the operation, police served a Warrant to Search, Seize, and Examine Computer Data in the suspect’s house where pieces of evidence that were used in the illegal activity were recovered.
The two siblings were turned over to the Center for Women and Children of the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Central Visayas.
Police said charges for violation of Republic Act 11862 or the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Person Act of 2022 will be filed against the mother.
Police Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, chief of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas, commended lawmen for the success of the operation.
“This case highlights the importance of online surveillance and undercover work in protecting vulnerable individuals and we remain committed to dismantling human trafficking operations at every level,” said Maranan.
