Security guard with criminal record arrested while applying for police clearance
A 47-year-old security guard was arrested at Manila Police District (MPD) Delpan Station after his criminal record appeared in his application for a police clearance.
The suspect, identified as "Pat," was apprehended on the spot by operatives under the leadership of Lt. Col. Marlon Mallorca, Commander of MPD Delpan Station.
The suspect, who works as a customs security guard and resides in Tondo, Manila, was obtaining a police clearance when the National Police Clearance program flagged an outstanding arrest warrant for "Acts of Lasciviousness."
The warrant, issued by the Metropolitan Trial Court (Branch 20) on May 6, 2014, had been unresolved for years.
The arrest was made possible thanks to the accuracy and efficiency of the updated police clearance system.
According to Lt. Ferdinand Omli, chief of the Station Intelligence/Warrant Subpoena Section, the warrant had been outstanding for a long time.
He had been evading the law until his identity was verified during the clearance application process.
The suspect is currently detained at Delpan Police Station and is listed as one of the "Other Wanted Persons" (OWP) under the MPD's watchlist.
His arrest, according to MPD, highlights the crucial role of modern systems in the detection and apprehension of individuals with criminal records, even those who may have tried to evade the law for years.
