BACOLOD CITY – A 63-year-old farm overseer was gunned down in Hacienda San Isidro, Barangay Bagtic, Silay City, Negros Occidental on Friday, Feb. 14.

Police Lt. Col. Mark Anthony Darroca, Silay police chief, identified the victim as Ricardo, a resident of Barangay Guimbalaon, Silay City.
Darroca said the victim was on his way to Hacienda San Isidro when two unidentified persons on a motorcycle shot him in the head and stomach with a .45 caliber pistol.
The victim was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.
Recovered from the crime scene were seven fired cartridge cases and a fired .45 caliber slug.
Darroca said they are eyeing work as motive in the killing. “If our investigation is on the right track, we may have a person of interest,” he added.
The victim had no threat to his life according to his wife. Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
