4 dead, 13 hurt in van-pickup truck smashup

Four persons were killed and 13 were injured in a collision between a passenger van and a pickup truck in Barangay Sinawal, General Santos City on Sunday, Feb. 16.

The General Santos City Traffic Enforcement Unit said the pickup truck encroached on the van’s lane, resulting in a head-on collision on the middle of the highway.

The van driver was pinned by the driver’s seat and died on the spot. Authorities said the three other fatalities were passengers of the van.

The injured – nine from the van and four from the pickup truck – were taken to hospitals in the city.

The General Santos TEU is conducting follow-up investigation.
