Following the success of the movie "And the Breadwinner Is...," Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda is eager to shoot another film this year. However, it seems that Vice Ganda is also preparing to return to primetime television.

"After the outcome of film festival, lumakas uli ang loob ko at natuwa ako. Ginanahan uli ako. Tumapang ako uli at na-boost ang confidence ko," said Vice during an interview at the World Trade Center in Pasay City recently.

In December, Vice starred in the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival entry "And The Breadwinner Is...," which topped the box office with over P400 million in ticket sales.

Vice has revealed that he is busy with meetings for the return of his television show on primetime. He did not specify the name of the program, but fans suspect he was alluding to the popular late-night show "Gandang Gabi Vice."

"May mga meetings na rin ako sa network dahil may mga dati silang programa ko na gusto nilang ibalik. (I've had meetings (with network officials) because they want to bring back my old programs.

"I don't want to disclose. Excited ako doon kaya lang gusto ko naman i-enjoy ang life ko. Yun Showtime kasi siya na yung plato ko agad. Ubos na ako roon. Pero siyempre, sabi ko, sige, isa pa. Pero hindi ko na talaga kaya yung tatlo na sabay-sabay. (I don't want to disclose. I'm excited about it, but I just want to enjoy my life. My plate is full now with 'Showtime.' But I said, okay, one more (show). But I really can't do three (shows) at once)," Vice said.

Vice acknowledged that one challenge in life is knowing when to say no and when to let go of an opportunity.

"Minsan iniisip ko sayang yung opportunity and sayang yung pera. We have waited for this moment. Ang daming nag-aabang dito pero paano kung hindi na bumalik? (Sometimes I think of wasted opportunity and money. Like we have waited for this moment but what if it never comes back?)

"Lalo na kung nagsisimula ka pa lang mag-ipon. Ang hirap mag say no. Now nakapag-ipon na ako. So sinasabi ko sige next time na lang yan, babawiin ko na lang sa susunod. (Especially if you're just starting to save. It's hard to say no. Now I've saved up. So I say okay, next time, I'll just take it back next time.)

"Dalawang show bale yun eh. So bale magiging tatlo. May isang talent reality show na nag no na rin ako. Hindi ko kayang gawin talaga. Matagal akong mag-a-absent sa Its Showtime kung gagawin ko yun. (It's two shows. So it's going to be three. There's a talent reality show that I've already turned down. I really can't do it. I'll be absent from 'It's Showtime' for a long time if I do that.)

"So sabi ko, ito na lang munang isang at na-miss ko yun eh. May clamor kasi. Yung mga tao gusto yun eh. So pinag-aaralan muna nila kasi hindi naman puwedeng pagbalik ng show, ganun uli so dapat may value-added. Hinahapan na nila ng schedule. This year na yan. (So I said, this is just one (show) and I missed it. There's a clamor. People want it. So they're studying it first because they can't have the exact show, so there has to be value-added. They're already looking for a schedule. It will happen this year)," Vice added.

Blessed with good health

Vice shared that he feels truly grateful for his good health, and it’s heartwarming to see him appreciate such a valuable blessing in life.

"Wala akong major health problems. Wala akong maintenance. Sa aming magkakaibigan, hindi ako sakitin or ma-hospital.

"Hindi ko alam kung saan ko nakuha yun kasi yung work natin hazardous (to health) kasi wala tayong oras. Feeling ko malaking bagay sa akin yung lagi akong masaya at tumatawa. Feeling ko sa genes din pero hindi pa rin ako sure," said Vice, when he was introduced as the latest endorser of Sante Barley, a health supplement brand.

Santé International is a health and wellness brand that offers barley-based products certified organic by BioGro New Zealand. With a mission to help people live healthier lives, the brand provides natural health solutions that merge science and nature.

Santé Barley, its flagship product, is grown in the Canterbury region of New Zealand. The brand offers a variety of products, including barley juice, barley capsules, fusion coffee, and other beverages and wellness items that cater to different lifestyles.

Vice credits his good health to his genetic makeup. "Yung pamilya ng mother ko mahahaba ang buhay nila. Yung lolo ko 90 years old, yung nanay ko almost 80 na. (My grandfather is 90 years old, and my mother is almost 80.)

The "It's Showtime" host revealed undergoing health therapy, which he said started during the pandemic.

"Sa mindset, malaking tulong ung may therapy ako. Minsan in one month, nakaka-tatlo akong therapy. Depende rin sa nararamdaman ko. Like yung doctor ko will ask me, 'Do you need me now?' Kahit okay ka, you need therapy.  (In terms of mindset, having therapy has been a big help. Sometimes, in one month, I can have three therapies. It also depends on how I feel. Like my doctor will ask me, 'Do you need me now?' Even if you're okay, you need therapy.)

"Malaking tulong siya sa akin. Para siyang life coach, best friend. Lahat. Mahalaga siya. Ang mga bata ngayon stressed na sila. Feeling ko lang yung generation ngayon parang they know everything when in fact they should know a lot of things. (It's a big help to me. It's like a life coach, a best friend. Everything. He's important. Kids these days are stressed. I just feel like the generation now seems like they know everything when, in fact, they still need to know a lot of things.)

"I had anxiety. I've been anxious about so many things. So, I need to know the triggers of my anxiety. I've been anxious and depressed, so I needed to seek professional medical help," Vice said.

Vice mentioned that he is careful about his diet, noting that his partner Ion Perez has positively influenced him in taking care of his body.

"Mindful na rin ako sa kinakain ko. As much as possible, I don't eat rice. Hindi na ako malakas kumain. Kung kumain ako konti-konti lang. (I'm also mindful of what I eat. As much as possible, I don't eat rice. I don't eat a lot anymore. If I do eat, it's just a little bit.)

"Malaking bagay din yung healthy lifestyle ng partner ko. Si Ion (Perez) sobrang healthy. Pagkain niya may calorie count. Hindi ko kaya yung mga physical activities niya na nagba-bike, going to the gym, nagmo-motor. Everyday yan tumatakbo. Kapag kumakain ako ng maruruming pagkain, sinasaway niya ako. Mabilis akong mabusog at saka takot akong tumaba. (My partner's healthy lifestyle is also a big deal. Ion (Perez) is very healthy. His food has a calorie count. I can't handle his physical activities like biking, going to the gym, riding a motorcycle. He runs every day. When I eat junk food, he scolds me. I get full quickly and then I'm afraid of gaining weight)," Vice said.

'Peter Pan' of comedy

Vice acknowledged his fear of weight gain, which motivates him to maintain his physique. He also strives to look good at all times.

"Takot akong magmukhang losyang. Kailangan ko kasing alagaan ang sarili ko. Isa sa kabilin-bilinan ni Deo Endrinal, our former manager, you have to take care of your body, how you look and how to present yourself. You have to be the Peter Pan of comedy. Yun ang challenge niya sa akin noon.

"So you have to keep reinventing and learning new things. Kasama na diyan yung pag-aalaga sa sarili mo. Kung mukha kang losyang at hindi mo na nagagawa yung mga dati mong ginagawa, mapapansin yun ng audience mo. (So you have to keep reinventing and learning new things. That includes taking care of yourself. If you look like you're losing your cool and can't do the things you used to do, your audience will notice it.)

"Kapag lumalaki kasi ang katawan mo, mas kumokonti ang kaya mong gawin. Madali kang mapagod. Yung audience mo pwedeng tumanda at magpalit pero ikaw dapat hindi. Hindi lang dapat yung mga ka-age mo ang na-i-inspire kundi yung future generations din. (When your body grows, you can do less. You get tired easily. Your audience may grow old and change, but you shouldn't. You shouldn't just inspire your peers, but future generations as well)," Vice said.

Embracing imperfections

Vice thought about life’s journey and realized an important truth: you can't win at everything. He knew that setbacks and failures are a natural part of life. These experiences help us learn resilience and humility.

Life is unpredictable, and we must accept both successes and difficulties. The lessons we learn from our struggles shape who we are and help us grow.

"Mahirap talaga yung challenge niya (Deo). Yung challenge niya na maging unkabogable, na parang hindi ako pwedeng matalo, but at one point, when I matured, I realized, we cannot win all the time. We cannot win everyday. Kasama sa healthy living natin everyday na tinatanggap natin na hindi tayo pwedeng manalo all the time. )His (Deo's) challenge is really difficult. His challenge was to be unstoppable, like I can't lose, but at one point, when I matured, I realized we cannot win all the time. We cannot win everyday. As part of our healthy living every day, we accept that we cannot win all the time.)

"Pwede ka pa rin manalo pero sa pagkakataong hindi ikaw ang No.1. Yung mga losses na yun that's the time to rethink and redo things. Hindi naman exciting ang life kung ikaw lagi ang panalo. Yung mga imperfection sa buhay that's what makes life exciting and beautiful. (You can still win but on occasion you're not No.1. Those losses are the time to rethink and redo things. Life isn't exciting if you're always the winner. The imperfections in life are what makes life exciting and beautiful)," Vice added.
