Tiangco clarifies what Alyansa's battecry is--and it's not unity

Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas campaign manager Toby Tiangco has clarified what the administration slate's campaign battlecry is.

No, it's not "unity", which has used ad infinitum by the winning faction during the previous 2022 elections.

"No [it's not unity]. First of all, paliwanag natin papaano ba napilit at papaano nabuo ‘yong Alyansa (Let's explain how Alyansa was forced into existence and formed)," Tiangco said in an interview over the weekend.

"So Alyansa is composed of five political parties so when I came in nandoon na ‘yong five political parties at ‘yong karamihan doon sa five political parties ay nag-nominate ng kanilang senatorial candidates. Ganyan nabuo ‘yong candidates para sa senatorial ‘no.

(When I came in the five political parties were already there and most of the five political parties nominated their senatorial candidates. That's how the senatorial slate was formed.)

"And I’m saying na it’s not just a slate, it’s really an alliance para sa Bagong Pilipinas (for a new Philippines)," he said.

Tiangco said the common denominator among the fve parties was their support for President Marcos' legislative agenda.

"‘Yan ‘yong partido na sumusuporta doon sa Kongreso, doon sa majority ‘no. So naturally gusto nila mapagpatuloy ‘yong programa ng ating Pangulo," said the Navotas City lone district congressman.

(Those are the supportive parties in Congress, in the majority. So naturally they want to continue the President's programs.)

"The message now is what they (Alyansa bets) can individually do to help the President in his legislative agenda to bring a better life for the Filipino people," Tiangco said.

"So ano ba ‘yong mga programang dapat nilang gawin at suportahan doon sa ating Pangulo para mas mapaganda ang buhay ng ating mga kababayan? (So what are the programs of the President that they must do and support in order to improve the lives of our countrymen?)

"So definitely that would be the agenda and how each of them with their own strengths ‘yong kanilang kalakasan ay makakatulong doon sa programa na ‘yon (how these strengths can help those programs)," he explained.

Tiangco said that, for the Alyansa bets to win in May 12 elections, "They have to be strong individually."

'Kailangan individually mapakita nila kung ano ‘yong nagawa nila at kung ano pa ‘yong kaya nilang gawin (Individually, they must show what they have done and what more they can do)," he said.
